High Surf: Mahukona Closed

This is an important message from Hawaii County Alerts and Notifications:
This is a Civil Defense High Surf Advisory and Beach Closure update for Tuesday, February 11 at 1 in the afternoon.
The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory for west facing shores of Hawaii Island from Ka`u to North Kohala through Wednesday.
A High Surf Advisory means surf will be higher than normal, shore break, and dangerous currents could cause injury or death.
Due to the High Surf Advisory, the following are in effect;
· Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
· Beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
The following beaches are closed today;
· The Wharf at Mahukona Beach Park
· Kauna`oa Beach at Mauna Kea Beach Resort
· Kua Bay
· La`aloa Beach Park
· Kahalu`u Beach Park
