Hawaii Police Department reports that Kawaihae Road is now open in both directions. The utility lines have been cleared from the roadway.
Hawaii Police Department reports that Kawaihae Road in South Kohala is closed between mile markers 60 and 61 in both directions due to utility lines on the roadway. Motorists in the affected area are advised to drive with caution as Police and utility personnel are on scene. Avoid the area if possible. Alternate routes include the Kohala Mountain Road to the North and Highway 190 (the Upper Road) to Waikoloa Road to the South.
