Kohala was the lone BIIF survivor from the first round of the HHSAA state tournament on Wednesday, blowing away Lanai 12-0.
The Cowgirls raced out to an early five-run lead and tacked on three in the seventh inning for the lopsided victory over the Pine Lasses.
Mikayla Kekoa recorded the complete-game shutout on the circle. She allowed four hits and walked only one while striking out five. Kekoa also did some work with her bat, knocking in five runs. Three of those came on a home run in the seventh inning.
Symphony Kauanoe recorded a pair of hits, scoring three times, while Setsuko Kimura and Deysha Yamasaki each had a RBI.
Kohala advances to face the No. 2 seed Aiea in the quarterfinals today at 7 p.m.
