Wind Advisory Update

This is a Civil Defense Wind Advisory update message for December 17 at 8:00 in the morning. 

The National Weather Service Wind Advisory remains in effect for North and South Kohala, Hamakua, Hilo, Puna, Kau and Island Interior areas of Hawaii Island through this evening. 

A Wind Advisory means that sustained Northeast winds of 35 mph or gusts up to 55 mph are expected.

Due to the advisory the following precautions are advised:

·        Strong winds capable of downing trees and causing power outages may occur.

·        Treat any down utilities lines as live and stay clear and notify authorities.

·        Consider securing outdoor items.

You will be kept updated on any changes that may affect your safety.
