Updated: At 9:25 a.m., radar showed intense rainfall moving onshore from Kailua-Kona to Keauhou that was expected to produce flooding along low-lying areas, such as Alii Drive and flood-prone properties. Additional heavy rain may also move over portions of North and South Kohala during the next few hours, according to National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu.
The flash flood warning will remain in effect until at least 12:30 p.m. Monday, forecasters said. Other locations in the warning include but are not limited to Waikoloa Village, Saddle Road junction, Kainaliu, Kealakekua, Honaunau, Holualoa, Hawi, Kohala Mountain Road and Highway 190 from Waimea to Kona.
A flash flood warning mans that flash flooding is imminent or occurring in streams, roads and low-lying areas. The public is advised to move to higher ground and not to attempt to cross fast-flowing or rising water in a vehicle or on foot.
Until 12:30pm. North Kohala and the Kohala Mountain Road is in the flash flood warning. Stay out of flowing water. The advisory could be extended.
