Cowboy 8-Man Football Team One Step Closer to the Crown!!!

Kohala’s hopes to win the BIIF 8-man football title should come down to their home game versus Pahoa on October 17th! On Saturday, the Cowboys defeated the Daggers of Pahoa 42-14. Kohala was led by Isaiah Villacorte-Caravalho’s “hat trick” where he was involved in three scoring plays in three various ways! “Rican” as he is known to most, scored a rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown, and passed for another score in leading the Cowboys to victory. The Cowboy assault started with Isaiah Villacorte-Caravalho’s rushing touchdown in the first quarter. Pahoa answered back with a play action pass and followed that up with a two-point conversion to take the first quarter lead 8-7. In the second quarter, Joey Salvador rushed for another score and also threw a touchdown pass to receiver Steven Medeiros. The second half was started with another passing touchdown from Joey Salvador to Villacorte-Caravalho. The scoring for the Cowboys didn’t end there! Villacorte-Caravalho threw passing touchdown to receiver Peyton Oda, and Stylez Alvarez scooped up a Pahoa fumble and ran it in for the Cowboys’ final score. Pahoa also scored a rushing touchdown of their own, but it was not enough to defend home turf against the tough Cowboy team. It was another great defensive outing for the stifling Cowboy defense that nearly approached double digits in quarterback sacks of the Pahoa quarterback. Kohala comes home on October 10th to play Ka’u, and again on October 17th with Pahoa visiting the Corral, in a game that will decide the BIIF 8-Man Championship, should Kohala win that contest. The KNKR football broadcast crew of Donovan Aiona, Billy Rodrigues, Danny C., and Len Winkler will bring both games to the airwaves on KNKR-LP 96.1 FM, and knkr.org, where listeners can stream the game live. The live broadcast starts at 12:30 pm with the Head ‘em Up pregame show, kickoff at 2:00 pm, and the Head ‘em Out postgame show immediately after the completion of the game. Go Cowboys!!!
