Kohala Cowboys BIIF 8-Man Football Champs 2015!!!

todayOctober 11, 2015

Background

Kohala Cowboys BIIF 8-Man Football Champs 2015!!!

by Donovan Aiona

The Kohala Cowboys defeated the Ka’u Trojans 27-6 on what was the same date as the 5th Annual “Pake” Ching Hunting Tournament. On display today was the tracking ability of Pake’s son, Railen Ching, who always plays in memory of his Dad. Railen made his presence known on special teams when the Ka’u punter mishandled the snap forcing Railen to pursue the Ka’u punter like Dog on Hog! Tracking and attacking the runaway punter, Railen sunk his paws into his shoulders bringing him down for a big loss in the fourth quarter! The Cowboy defense had an insatiable desire today, as always, for stuffing anything the Ka’u offense had to offer. The Kohala Defense as a unit threw a shut out and wasn’t going to allow anyone to score on them…and Ka’u didn’t! The Trojan’s only score came from an 80 plus yard interception return for a touchdown, in which the two-point conversion attempt failed. Steven Medeiros, Rex Abellera, DJ Victor-Gusman, and the heart of the Cowboy defense, Senior, Moses Hooton, led the aggressive Cowboys to the shutout of Ka’u. On offense, the Cowboy’s first half was an exercise in their ability to attack an opponent in a variety of ways starting with quarterback Kainalu Emeliano-Solomon scoring the games first touchdown with “Braddah” Louis Arraujo converting the PAT. In the second half, the Cowboys resumed their dominance of the 2015 BIIF season in big fashion by scoring twenty unanswered points led by the dominating offensive line of Austin Salvador-Racoma, Steven Medeiros, and Kobie Kaholoa’a-Aguilar. These three men paved the way for scores by Joey Salvador, Isaiah Villacorte-Caravalho, and Kainalu Emeliano-Solomon to win the game and the championship 27-6. Special shout out goes to the administration, athletic department, and the football coaching staff of Kohala High School for making our live broadcast possible; and to the broadcast crew of Mr. Len Winkler, Donovan Aiona, Coach Billy Rodrigues, DJ Danny C, and DJP in the studio for today’s broadcast of Kohala’s historic 8-Man Football Championship!
