This is a High Surf Warning, Road Closure and Beach Closure information update for Wednesday October 28th
The National Weather Service High Surf Warning for the North and West facing Shores of Hawaii Island remains in effect. Surf heights of 20 to 30 feet along the north facing shores and heights of 15 to 20 feet along the west facing shores can be expected. Peak surf conditions may coincide with the high tides. The high surf advisory is expected to continue through 6:00 PM tonight. Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers are advised to exercise caution and to heed all advice given by Ocean Safety Officials. Due to hazardous conditions and run up, Kalanianaole Avenue in Hilo between Kioea and Kolea Streets is closed to all traffic. A detour through Nene street is available for area residents.
