The Kohala High School Tennis teams are heating it up at the BIIF Championships being held at the Mauna Lani this weekend. Leading the way is singles player Jamesen Keyes! Jamesen has reached the Singles Final vs Gil Azzi tomorrow. Keyes is the first BIIF finalist for Boys Coach Hermann Fernandez! Congratulations goes out to Coach Hermann!!! Additionally, the Boys Doubles team of Chance Souze and KNKR’s, “Mike on the Mike” Michael Bartolome, has reached the Doubles Semifinals! Joining these finalists that have qualified for the State Tournament on May 5-7 will be Boys Singles player, Isaiah Moreno, who nearly missed making his final today and will be playing for 3rd or 4th place tomorrow. Adding to the success of the boys team was the doubles team of Bradlee Estabilio and first-year tennis player, Mycah Gonsalves, who has played solidly for Kohala all season. They played and lost in a tough match vs the #7 seed today! On the girls side, Coach Jessica Brown has Singles Player and state tournament qualifier, Gabrielle Bartolome, who lost in her bid to reach the finals today, playing for 3rd or 4th place tomorrow. That’s not all!!! The exciting team of Ella Boyle and Zoe Rudd nearly took out the #3 seed today, losing in a tiebreaker. So the matches are set for tomorrow and we’ll see how our tennis teams will do on the final day of the 2016 BIIF Tennis Tournament at the Mauna Lani.
