The Kohala Cowgirls Softball Team lost to the Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Warriors 10-0 yesterday, and 17-1 today at Kamehameha’s campus in Kea’au. Mykala Tokunaga led the Warriors on the mound throwing four innings in a mercy rule shortened game (ahead by 15 runs in the 4th). Kohala sent a trio of pitchers to the mound led by starter Symphony Libron, Kiana Alejandro, & Kaila Amaral. Leading the girls at the plate was Setsuko Kimura who had two hits and scored Kohala’s only run on an RBI single by second baseman, Jurnee Keawe. Senior Athlete Kyrah Sol also starred for the Cowgirls with a Double and numerous defensive gems at third base. The Cowgirls are the 2016 Runners Up and will be representing the Big Island as the second BIIF seed at the state tournament on Maui. Also accompanying the Cowgirls will be top seeded Kamehameha, and third seed Konawaena who defeated the Honoka’a Dragons on Thursday, 10-9. Go Cowgirls and good luck from KNKR!!!
