PASS THE CAN STARTS TODAY

todayMay 16, 2016

Background
Aloha,

Kohala Radio is close to completing its first full year on the air. We have accomplished a great deal during the last three years of hard work. We are producing 13 hours of original broadcasts created by our 30 volunteer broadcasters. Our programming is gradually becoming more diverse as we attract volunteers from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, expand our local sports remote broadcasts, and increase programming with conversations about issues that are important to our local residents. As a result, we are slowly attracting more listeners.  Plus we are streaming to a large audience on the mainland and around the world. In all respects, we are gradually meeting our goals and fulfilling our mission.

All this takes money. Although we are an all-volunteer organization, our monthly expense to keep the station going, including rent, internet service, utilities, telephone, insurance, music licensing fees along with a seemingly endless list of other costs mount up. We need about $4,000 a month to keep it all going. Not a gigantic sum for the value we offer, but large enough to require an appeal to you at least once a year.

So it’s time to “pass the can” as they say. Please consider making a donation to KNKR at this time. It’s easy to do. Here are three quick and easy ways to do it, all of which will get you a tax deduction for your 2016 return.

1) Go to our Kohala radio website: www.knkr.org. On the home page, below the KNKR logo, there are two rows of listings for each page on our website. At the far right of the second row look for and click on “Donate“. On the page that comes up, click on the orange Donate button which will allow you to donate directly to the North Kohala Community Resource Center, our fiscal sponsor. Just follow the directions on that page, being sure to put “radio” in the purpose of the donation at the top. You can use your credit card or PayPal here.
2) Send a check to NKCRC with “radio” on the memo line, at P.O. Box 519 Hawi, HI 96719.
3) Drop off a check to NKCRC, with “radio” on the memo line, at the Resource Center at 55-3393 Akoni Pule Hwy, in Hawi (call 889-5523 for directions if needed).

On behalf of all of the volunteer staff here at Kohala Radio, we want you to know how thankful we are that you are willing to support community radio in Kohala. We will continue to work hard to earn your faith in us, and to provide a state-of-the-art FM station for our community. And, if you have comments about KNKR or any questions about the station, please feel free to contact us at info@knkr.org.
