Pacific Storms Update

todayAugust 2, 2016

Background

We are continuing to watch TS Howard as it approaches. The current forecast is for us to feel the rain late this coming weekend, but winds should not be a major problem. Also, the bulk of the storm’s path is currently headed a little North of our Island, but of course, the path can change. Another storm follows behind Howard, so stay tuned to KNKR, 96.1FM  and knkr.org for continued updates.

AND, after Howard, this storm has a 90% chance to form within the next 5 days with a westerly heading towards the Hawaiian Islands.

A broad low pressure system located about 800 miles south-southwest
of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula is producing
disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions
are expected to be conducive for gradual development of this
system, and a tropical depression is likely to form later this week
while the low moves west-northwestward at about 15 mph.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent
