At 500 PM HST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Madeline was located near latitude 18.0 North, longitude 155.1 West. Madeline is moving toward the west-southwest near 12 mph (19 km/h). This general motion is expected to continue tonight with a gradual turn toward the west on Thursday and Friday. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Steady weakening is expected over the next couple of days. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km) from the center. Wind gusts as high as 60 mph (97 km/h) have been reported in North Kohala in Hawaii County today.
