This is a Civil Defense Message. Hawaii Police Department advises that Highway 19 remains closed at this time due to a propane tanker fire resulting from a traffic crash yesterday. Honomu Road is also closed. Traffic is being routed over Old Mamalahoa Highway, but this detour is limited to passenger vehicles only. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and to expect delays. Large vehicles need to use an alternate route. It is unknown at this time when the highway will be reopened. Again, Highway 19 remains closed at Honomu. Honomu Road is also closed. It is unknown at this time when the road will be reopened.
