Pololu Hikers Rescued

The Hawaiʻi County Fire Department says the two hikers, a 21-year-old female and a 24-year-old male, were unfamiliar with the area and became stranded on the rocky shoreline at the base of a cliff between Pololū Valley and Honokane Valley.

HILO — One of lower Puna’s most popular beach parks will officially reopen next week after a six-month-plus closure because of lava.
