Guy Cruz died today, brother to the late Ernie Cruz Jr who died Tuesday afternoon in a drowning at Sandy Beach. Guy Cruz had been in hospice care for some time. He was 49 years old. Hilo had its wettest August in a quarter-century, according to a report released Thursday by the National Weather Service. Lester, although still packing winds of 100mph, is heading Northwest away from the Hawaiian Islands. Expect high surf, but, thankfully, little else.
Don't let your guard down, but it appears that Lester is weakening slightly and it's path will be a bit further North of The Big Island, thus allowing us not to feel the strongest force.
