Windy interview with 2015 Mother's Day Pancake Breakfast Chairman Aaron Sienkiewicz The volunteers arrived by 5am to clean, cook, and set up for the 8th annual Kohala Lions Club Mothers Day Pancake Breakfast. More than 600 tickets are sold for this annual treat which also serves as a great fund raiser for the Lions Club. Our breakfast included scrambled eggs, sausages, orange, fried rice, pancakes, butter, syrup, coffee, and juice. Delicious!

Highway 11 is closed in the area of mile marker 56, near Pahala, Hawaii County Civil Defense reports. The Hawaii County Fire Department said a runaway brush fire was located near the intersection of Highway 11 and Ninole Loop.

Kohala defeats Honokaa in softball doubleheader, winning both games; 10-0 & 13-2, thus making the playoffs. The Championship series between Kohala & Kamehameha will be a doubleheader Friday, and a final 3rd game on Saturday, if necessary. The games will be played at Old Kona Airport Park.
