Spencer Park closing Sept. 12-14 For routine cleaning, the South Kohala park will be closed all day on Sept. 12, 13 and 14. The Department of Parks and Recreation thanks the public for cooperation during these temporary closures.

Ka’u Defeats Cowboys

The Cowboys lost 36 to 6 to Ka'u.  Kohala's only score came early in the first quarter, but Ka'u shut them down with a hard-nosed game of defense for the rest of the game. Highway 19 Still Closed (UPDATE: Open Now)

This is a Civil Defense Message. Hawaii Police Department advises that Highway 19 remains closed at this time due to a propane tanker fire resulting from a traffic crash yesterday.  Honomu Road is also closed.  Traffic is being routed over Old Mamalahoa Highway, but this detour is limited to passenger vehicles only.  Motorists are advised to avoid the area and to expect delays.  Large vehicles need to use an alternate […]

House Fire in North Kohala Sunday Night

Hawaii Fire Department firefighters first got the call about the blaze on Kapaau Road at 7 p.m. When they arrived on scene five minutes later, crews found a single-family home engulfed in flames and partially collapsed, according to a press release.
