This is a Civil Defense message for Wednesday, March 27 at 7:45in the evening.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for South Kohala, North Kona and South Kona Districts through tonight.
A Flood Advisory means that rainfall and runoff will cause hazardous conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility, and poor braking action.
Due to the Flood Advisory, the following are in effect;
- Heavy rain and other hazardous conditions may develop.
- Stay away from streams, drainage ditches, and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
- Heavy rainfall, runoff, and ponding can cause hazardous driving conditions.
- Be on the alert for malfunctioning traffic signals.
- Treat flashing traffic lights as a four-way stop.
- Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in vehicle or on foot. Turn around, don’t drown.
Civil Defense is monitoring conditions and will keep you updated should conditions change.
