Kohala Scheduled Power Outage Update/Result

Hawai'i Electric Light personnel have completed maintenance and equipment upgrades in North Kohala. This project to improve system reliability required an overnight outage to ensure personnel could perform the work in safe conditions and restore service as quickly as possible. The work included upgrading the Waimea substation which services all of North Kohala, upgrading the Hala'ula Substation in Kapa'au, replacing several transmission poles, and trimming trees. New Warning Siren Tests Cancelled

Hawaii is cancelling the testing of warning sirens that was scheduled to begin in November, Hawaii Emergency Management Agency Administrator Vern Miyagi reportedly said at both meetings. Miyagi said officials are holding off on the tests until they can figure out a way to avoid confusing the public.
