Akoni Pule: Delays Possible

The Department of Water Supply, County of Hawai‘i, will install a new service lateral on the roadway shoulder: Maluhia Road and Akoni Pule HighwayWednesday, September 16, 2020 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A traffic control officer will be on site to direct drivers using Maluhia Road. Motorists could experience delays and should plan accordingly. Questions can be directed to Darroll Naungayan at (808) 887-3030.

Akoni Pule Brush Fire

Both lanes of Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) near the 12 mile marker in North Kohala were closed early this morning due to a brush fire. HFD crews have extinguished the fire and the road is now open.

Three arrested in North Kohala for Emergency Proclamation Violations

On Saturday, August 29, 2020, Scott Alan Souza, 47 years-old, of Kurtistown, was arrested and charged for Prohibited Acts Emergency Management, Section 127A-29 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes after he refused to comply with Mayor Kim’s Emergency Rule No. 11, which requires that all persons wear non-medical grade face coverings while in public settings.
