HAWAII COUNTY CLOSURES County lava viewing and swimming pools are closed effective noon today. All camping and pavilion reservations at County and State parks have been cancelled today through Sunday. All backcountry areas and certain roads in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park, are closed effective 5 p.m. today. Saturday, all State and County park facilities are closed until further notice.

Tropical Storm Darby Coming This Weekend

Though expected to pass offshore, northern and eastern areas of the Big Island and Maui are within the potential track area on Saturday and Sunday. Forecast models have Tropical Storm Darby about 175 miles north-northeast of Hilo and circulating 45 mph winds Sunday evening. Based on Tuesday’s forecast track, Darby should bring some rain to the Big Island this weekend. Stay tuned to KNKR for updates.
