New Siren Tests This Week

Hawaii Emergency Management Agency and Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency will test new sirens between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. this Thursday and Friday at Kapaa Beach Park and Mahukona Beach Park.  These new sirens are part of the Statewide Siren Modernization Project. 4 to 7 Hurricanes Predicted

For 2016, The Central Pacific Hurricane Center predicts climate conditions pointing to a 40 percent chance of an above-normal hurricane season, a 40 percent chance of a normal season, which sees 4-5 hurricanes, and a 20 percent chance of a below-normal season. The Central Pacific hurricane season starts next Wednesday, June 1, and ends November 30. Be prepared. KNKR will provide up to date warnings and bulletins online and live on the air.
